Our Wirehaired Pointing Griffons

The Wirehaired Pointing Griffon, known as the Korthal’s Griffon in Europe, is a versatile hunting dog, developed by Eduard Korthals in the 1870s. Korthals created this breed to be the ultimate walking hunters gun dog. Bred to serve the Gentleman Hunter, the Griff is the ATV of hunting dogs. Griffs perform well in underbrush, marshy ground and just about anywhere you can find birds.

The Griff is a close working dog, adaptable to all kinds of game, and even used as a K-9 drug dog in Kansas! Their natural ability makes them one of the easiest dogs to train. He is also a companion dog, and has the temperament to be successful in agility or other dog sports that require discipline.

Here at Glacier Kennels, we provide the best possible environment for our dogs and puppies. They have an acre to run in, house time with family, and someone at home most all the time. Because we own our own luxury boarding kennel (see our boarding facility at threedogranchmontana.com), we spend a great deal of time at home with our dogs, and our dogs are exposed to a variety of activities and socialization. Our goal is to continually increase the quality of the Wirehaired Pointing Griffon as envisioned by Eduard Korthals.

Aron is our Swedish import. Due to laws in Sweden, Aron has an undocked tail, and still has his dewclaws. His mother is out of German lines, and father out of the Netherlands. Both mom and dad are excellent hunters, great temperaments and health history.

We imported Aron because we wanted a new bloodline from what was available in the US. Aron’s parents have been very successful in the European hunt tests, which include both fur and feather. He has a fantastic dense harsh coat, making him very comfortable in chilly waters. He is OFA Good (hips).

Aron is the sire of our Park Litter.

Koko is North American Versatile Hunting Dog (NAVHDA) Natural Ability Prize II, 107 points. OFA Good (hips), CERF and thyroid normal. Koko, North Lakes Bit O'Honey is out of CH. North Lake's Pointer Sister, NAVHDA Prize II and CH. Dax Von Herrenhausen, NAVHDA Prize II.

Koko is an excellent hunter, and has truly amazing natural ability. She constantly wants to please her master, making training very easy. Koko is AKC pointed (conformation) and is very true to type. She is, however, a Tom-boy, and would rather hunt any day of the week. We will be working to convince her the show ring can be fun too!

Koko is the dam of our Park Litter.
